Annual Benefit Breakfast 2026
On May 7, 2026, Homestretch held its Annual Benefit Breakfast, bringing together donors, volunteers, and friends who make our work possible. This year's event was a special one, as we took time to honor two beloved Board Members, Mike Leavitt and Amy Thorn, as they concluded a decade of dedicated service to our mission. We are deeply grateful to everyone who joined us and continues to fuel the work we do for families across Northern Virginia.
Volunteer of the Year Award:
Patti and Dick Doyle and Gordon Burgess
Dick and Patti Doyle, alongside their close friend Gordon Burgess, have transformed a shared passion into a powerful force for good. Together, they are the creative engine behind a unique effort that turns salvaged wood into beautifully crafted furniture, each piece telling a story of renewal, generosity, and purpose. What began as a labor of love among friends has grown into a meaningful source of support for Homestretch. Through their efforts, they have raised significant funds while also increasing awareness of our work to empower families experiencing homelessness.
Kidstretch Champion Award:
Emily Leatha Everson Gleichenhaus
Emily first joined Kidstretch in June 2023 as a guest performer and quickly formed a deep connection to our mission and families. After a return visit that November, she made a remarkable commitment: to volunteer her program every month beginning in 2024. She has faithfully continued that dedication through 2025 and into 2026, offering a gift that has become a cornerstone of our Kidstretch programming.
Community Impact Award:
NewCity Church
For over 15 years, NewCity Church has partnered with Homestretch in their life-changing work with families experiencing homelessness. From its earliest days, NewCity has been intentional about supporting organizations that empower disadvantaged communities in meaningful ways - those helping individuals and families move from crisis toward stability, independence, and lasting self-sufficiency. NewCity believes this kind of rehabilitative support is essential to fostering human flourishing for the most vulnerable in our communities.
Corporate Ambassador Award:
