How You Can Help Kidstretch
Kidstretch needs your help to continue to provide high-quality preschool education to some of Virginia’s neediest children. There are several ways you can help:
Kidstretch Wish List
The Kidstretch classroom is full of stimulating, developmentally appropriate materials for children to explore. Classroom supplies include books, math manipulatives, art and writing materials, toys, materials for science experiments, and indoor/outdoor play equipment. Kidstretch must maintain a constant supply of disposable tableware, paper goods, and office supplies. If you would like to donate supplies to Kidstretch, please check our current list on Amazon. Items designated to our preschool have Kidstretch mentioned in the comments next to each item.
Scholarships
Our greatest need is scholarship money for homeless children in Homestretch to attend preschool while their parents complete job training, education courses, and secure employment. The current cost of providing care for a full-time student is approximately $350 per week, or $18,060 for one year. Please consider contributing towards a child’s scholarship for early childhood education. Any money donated towards the scholarship fund will be awarded to the students with the highest needs, based on the discretion of Homestretch staff.
Monetary Gifts
Monetary donations can assist Kidstretch in the following ways:
$3,000
will help to provide breakfast and snacks for ten children for one year
$1,500
will purchase enrichment programs
$500
will provide teacher training
$350
will cover field trip costs
$300
will purchase classroom and office supplies
$100
will purchase outdoor play equipment
Monetary donations made by check can be made payable to Homestretch, with Kidstretch written in the memo section. These are examples of all the areas in which funds can be used in our preschool; priority will be given to the most pressing needs.

Volunteer
Kidstretch students love the opportunity to interact with caring, energetic adults. Volunteers assist our teachers by participating in various activities with the children including reading books, fine motor and art projects, and one-on-one math or pre-reading skills. Volunteers choose their time commitment and have a brief orientation with the Homestretch Volunteer Coordinator. All volunteers will need to complete a volunteer application and background check.
Complete the volunteer application and our Volunteer Coordinator will be in touch with you for the next steps.
